What Is Jalsa?

Jalsa is the short sitting position taken between the first and second Sujood in each rak'ah. The worshipper rises from the first prostration, sits briefly, and then returns to prostrate a second time before either standing for the next rak'ah or moving into Tashahhud.

What Is Said During Jalsa?

It is recommended to say "Rabbighfir li" (My Lord, forgive me) during this brief sitting, sometimes extended to a fuller dua asking for forgiveness, mercy, guidance, provision, and well-being.

Why This Pause Matters

Though brief, Jalsa is a genuine part of the prayer's rhythm — a short moment of stillness and personal supplication between two acts of prostration, reflecting the balance of movement and reflection built into Salah.
