The intention (niyat) made before starting a fast, typically before dawn (Suhoor).

Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaytu min shahri Ramadan
I intend to keep the fast tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

Is Niyat Required in Words?

The intention (niyat) for fasting is primarily an act of the heart — deciding to fast for the sake of Allah. Saying the words above is a common practice but not obligatory; the intention is valid as long as a person decides in their heart to fast before dawn.

Dua for Breaking the Fast (Iftar)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَىٰ رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika amantu wa 'alayka tawakkaltu wa 'ala rizqika aftartu
O Allah, I fasted for You, I believe in You, I put my trust in You, and I break my fast with Your sustenance.
