The Six Articles of Faith (Iman)
The six core beliefs that define Iman (faith) in Islam.
1. Belief in Allah
The foundational belief that Allah is One, without partner or equal, the Creator and Sustainer of everything, deserving of all worship.
2. Belief in the Angels
Angels are created beings of light who carry out Allah's commands — such as Jibreel (Gabriel), who delivered revelation to the prophets, and angels who record deeds and take souls at the time of death.
3. Belief in the Revealed Books
Muslims believe Allah revealed scriptures to various prophets, including the Torah (to Musa), the Psalms (to Dawud), the Gospel (to Isa), and the Quran (to Muhammad ﷺ) — the final and unaltered revelation.
4. Belief in the Prophets
Belief in all the prophets sent by Allah to guide humanity, from Adam to Muhammad ﷺ, the last of the prophets, without distinction of favoritism among them in terms of belief.
5. Belief in the Day of Judgment
Belief that this worldly life will end, and every soul will be resurrected and held accountable for their deeds, leading to eternal reward in Paradise or punishment in Hell.
6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadar)
Belief that Allah has full knowledge and control over all that happens, both good and bad, while human beings retain free will and moral responsibility for their choices.
